The Australian Wearable Art Festival is a spectacular showcase of some of the best wearable art that Australia has to offer. A fusion of sculptural art and high-end fashion – where Gaultier meets Picasso! Be prepared to be spell-bound with 40 international and national works paraded on a 27-metre-long runway.

On Friday 9 August 2024 – Saturday 11 August 2024, Venue 114 will play host to the nation’s largest showcase of wearable art with three runway shows featuring 40 high-calibre national and international artists and designers. Audiences will be fully immersed in a magical wearable art world as soon as they arrive. Enjoy a cocktail, beautiful locally-sourced food options and have your photo taken on the red carpet with models dressed in wearable art before heading in to enjoy the runway show.

An impressive 27-metre-long catwalk sets the stage for a show of the dramatic, the playful and the creative. Seated in a traditional catwalk manner, you will be close enough to see the exquisite detail of each work and be amazed by the innovation of each structured piece.

The festival features three electrifying shows, with the gala on Saturday night announcing the Festival’s  winners The four categories capture the imagination: – Trashion (a creation that must be at least 80% reused trash bringing to life common waste items or materials), Sustainable Nature (a piece that showcases the natural environment and must be able to biodegrade back into the earth once worn), Avant Garde (pushing all the artistic boundaries and delivers the experimental and innovative with no limits on new, reused or natural materials) and Floriana (working with all things botanical).

In addition to these categories there are also prizes for Best Headpiece, Emerging Artist, Youth Award, People’s Choice, and overall Supreme Winner.

The Australian Wearable Art Festival brings the best of wearable art to the Sunshine Coast and this event is not to be missed.
