We are thrilled to be welcoming back the community with open arms!
As of Monday 8 June 2020 Venue 114 and Community Spaces will be re-opening their doors with safety measures in place for all events up to 20 people. These council owned and operated facilities will re-activate as the community hubs celebrating inclusiveness and kindness whilst hosting a diverse range of events for the community to engage in.
The closure period (due to COVID-19) has been a great opportunity to complete some fantastic maintenance upgrades and we look forward to bringing people back together and collaborating.
All safety measures implemented are in accordance with the Queensland Government's step-down approach to eased restrictions.
The Public Health Direction also introduces other mandatory risk mitigation measures that need to be applied and followed, these guidelines can be found on the Public Heath Direction webpage, which was updated on 1 June 2020. These include but are not limited to the following -
- Physical distancing 1.5 meters
- 4 square metres per person when indoors
- Hand hygiene
- Frequent environmental cleaning and disinfestation
It is important to review this direction as there are a number of key measures that may impact on your booking. Sunshine Coast Council will continue to monitor emerging information and provide further updates as required.
Please note Sunshine Coast Council has installed hand sanitiser’s at Venue 114 and each Community Space along with COVID-19 signage advising of correct social distancing practices.
As a safety measure all cutlery and crockery has been removed from Community Spaces and all hirers will need to provide their own disposable items until it is safe for them to be returned for community use.
Council has created an addition to the Terms & Conditions of Hire for Community Spaces to set out the protocols for using facilities under COVID-19 restrictions. All bookings will be required to adhere to the Pandemic Protocols. The basics of the protocols are:
- Acknowledging shared responsibilities stopping the spread of COVID-19
- Restricting sick persons from entering community facilities
- Contact tracing
- Maintaining social distancing guidelines
- Supporting personal hygiene
- Cleaning of venues after use
Council’s priority is protecting the health and well-being of the community, as a response to the virus Council has increased the frequency of cleaning of the facilities. As a hirer it is your responsibility to remove rubbish and clean ALL tables, chairs and benches used by you at the conclusion of your booking.
