V114 - Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival

Right across the region, November 11th-14th this year, the Sunshine Coast Comedy Festival is featuring more than 30 comedians, unique destination experiences and for the first time; a dedicated Comedy Club hosting back to back shows across four days!

This week the festival announced comedy heavyweights Wil Anderson, Fiona O’Loughlin and Tripod as the event headliners for events stretching from Caloundra to Noosa and released first tickets for these November dates. Also included in this first announce; signature events such as the Opening Night Comedy Gala at Nightquarter Birtinya, a comedy cruise aboard The Catalina Noosa and a fully hosted Comedy Craft Brewery Tour with Creative Tours Sunshine Coast.

Following on from their inaugural festival in 2020, SCCF has brought on a host of new partners to deliver the goods in 2021. Sunshine Coast Council is sponsoring the event and has made the festival part of its major events portfolio.

Economy Portfolio Councillor Jason O’Pray said the comedy festival was an exciting addition to the Sunshine Coast major events calendar.

“With festival events spread across the region – Caloundra, Birtinya, Palmview, Maleny, Mooloolaba, Maroochydore and Eumundi it offers venues and craft breweries across the Sunshine Coast the opportunity to attract more customers supporting local jobs and the economy,” Cr O’Pray said.

Tourism Noosa has sponsored the festival to bring the best of the fest to the northern reaches of the region.

The festival has received federal support from the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications, with Festivals Australia supporting the emerging comic series; Laughable, which will deliver competition heats as far afield as Gympie ahead of the grand final held at Solbar as the closing event for the festival.

At the anticipation-loaded festival launch, Festival Director Tim Loydell also outlined the SCCF sustainability partnerships with Queensland Water and Landcarers, Tourism Noosa, Noosa and District Landcare to deliver $1 from every festival ticket directly to community projects.

Solbar has been declared comedy central for SCCF 2021, the official venue hosting back to back performances across the festival, part of a full programme to be announced in September.
